ST. GEORGE’S, GRENADA, 6th October, 2016 –GIS:  Government says it will contribute two hundred thousand dollars towards the 2017 Pure Grenada Music Festival from May 5th to 7th.

That announcement was made by Culture Minister Sen. Brenda Hood during the official launch of the festival on Wednesday October, 5th.

“I am pleased to report that in-spite of our limitations as a government in terms of funding, government has agreed to contribute two hundred thousand dollars towards the music festival,” Minister Hood said.

Official Organizer of the festival Dieter Burkhalter, admits they have fallen short in their expenses for the first event, but at this point all outstanding debts have been settled.

He said governments’ contribution towards the next event will go a long way in avoiding such pitfalls for the 2017 event.

“As you may have heard, we did not meet our financial targets.

We had six thousand people; our calculations estimated more so therefore a financial short fall.

But I am very happy to announce at this festival launch that we have only one small opened debt, everything else is being settled,” Mr. Buckhalter said.

Their main focus for the upcoming festival will be on the main stage at Port Louis as well as music quality and will continue to involve local artiste as much as possible.

Buckalter said they have had many positive feedbacks both locally and internationally.
