ST. GEORGE’S GRENADA January 13, 2016- GIS: The World Pediatric Project, an international non-profit organization that offers free medical attention to critically ill children, now has local representation on island in the person of Sharon Davis.

The organization has for the past 10 years been offering its services to Grenada through the Ministry of Health and the local medical community, and has assisted over 200 Grenadian children with access to pediatric specialists and critical surgical procedures in St. Vincent and the United States.

Susan Rickman, CEO of the project, told the GIS that having Ms. Davis on board will facilitate more direct contact between the organization and its existing and potential clients.
“We’ve made that step to have a staff person on island that would be their representative seven days a week.

She will be in constant contact with the medical care providers here, as well as the Ministry of Health and the parents,” the CEO said.

Ms. Rickman and Chief Development Officer for the Caribbean Region, Simon Carey, were recently in Grenada promoting and soliciting the support for the project that is offering services unavailable on the island.

“We’re definitely trying to build more awareness here for the World Pediatric Project.

Once we build awareness we’re hoping that people will jump on this movement and once they jump on, people will be less reluctant to reach into their pockets and bring this project to a whole other level,” Mr. Carey said.

Six children are already scheduled to travel to St. Vincent this month to receive critical care under the project.
