ST. GEORGE'S, GRENADA, November 17, 2015 - GIS: Prime Minister, Dr. the Right Honourable Keith Mitchell, leaves Grenada today, Tuesday 17th November, to attend the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States Authority Meeting in the Commonwealth of Dominica.

The Prime Minister, who is also Chairman of the OECS Authority, will be accompanied by Grenada’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Honourable Clarice Modeste.

This will be Prime Minister’s second visit to Dominica in the aftermath of Tropical Storm Erika, which devastated some communities on that Island.

In early October, Prime Minister Mitchell, in his capacity as Chairman of the OECS, and accompanied by the OECS Director General, Dr. Didacus Jules, paid a solidarity visit to Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit and the People of Dominica.

They were able to tour the affected areas and to meet victims of Erika.

It was during that one-day visit that the decision was made to host this seating of the OECS Authority in the Commonwealth of Dominica, as a show of support to the Government and People, as they struggle to recover in the wake of the storm.

Under the leadership of PM Mitchell, several governments of the OECS, including Grenada, have already contributed tangibly to Dominica's recovery, with supplies, monetary donations, and technical expertise.

A mere two days after the passage of the storm, Grenada, on the decision of PM Mitchell, was the first country to send a ministerial delegation, led by the Minister of Health and including the Deputy Commissioner, with relief supplies, to the Commonwealth of Dominica.

Grenada is scheduled to present soon to Dominica another monetary disbursement from the proceeds of the benefit concert and other cash donations.

Prime Minister Mitchell and his Foreign Minister will return to Grenada on Friday, November 20th.

In the absence of Prime Minister Mitchell, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Carriacou and Petite Martinique Affairs, Honourable Elvin Nimrod, will be the Acting Prime Minister.
