Beausejour, Carriacou, May 22, 2015- Another source of water is now available to the people of Carriacou and Petite Martinique
Although not yet officially opened, interested persons can purchase water from the newly set up reverse osmosis plant located at Sea View.

Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Carriacou and Petite Martinique Affairs Bernadette Lendore-Sylvester said noting the impact this year’s dry season is having on the island; the Ministry saw it fitting to ensure that residents have a continuous flow of water.

Lendore-Sylvester said there will be a minimal charge of ten dollars ($10.00) for one tank while two dollars ($2.00) for a plastic barrel.

Over on the island of Petite Martinique the distribution pipes are being laid so households will have a direct link to the plant there.

The setting up of these two plants is a major accomplishment for the Ministry who in 2012 sought assistance from the Caribbean Community Climate Change Centre located in Belize to help with the water problems the twin isle parish face during the dry season.

The National Water and Sewerage Authority and the Grenada Electricity Company Ltd (GRENLEC) worked along with the Ministry to ensure the project became a reality.
