Beausejour, Carriacou, January 23rd, 2015- The Marketing and National Importing Board (MNIB) has taken another bold step in encouraging citizens to buy and eat local.

The sister isle of Carriacou was the place for the launching of their Healthy Eaters Club and card.

Chairman of the Board of Directors Samuel Andrew said that through the card they are promoting healthy eating since eating local is not an option but a lifestyle.

MNIB Sales Manager Devon Rachae said the launching of this flagship program is a way of showing appreciation to their customers. Customers will receive tangible benefits upon the accumulation of points; which they will be able to redeem.

Noting that the Carriacou Branch is an important outlet was Chief Executive Officer of MNIB Ruel Edwards.

He said the card which is part of their “Customers Loyalty Program” should bring about better market opportunities for farmers; since citizens should be consuming more local fruits and vegetables.

He said they are also catering for families as the card comes in three parts.

Showing government’s support for this latest initiative, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Carriacou and Petite Martinique Affairs & Local Government Bernadette Lendore-Sylvester commended the MNIB for their renewed commitment in working with farmers here.

Lendore-Sylvester said this showcases their buy in on government’s policy of support locally produced products.

Recently, the Marketing and National Importing Imported Board donated 1000 sour sop plants to the Carriacou Farmers Association.
