MP Pierre marks two years with Thanksgiving Service

ST. GEORGE’S, GRENADA, February 17, 2015 – GIS: Member of Parliament for St. Andrews East Hon. Emmalin Pierre is being showered with praise for her work in the constituency.

Pierre, the country’s minister of sports and religious affairs, received the accolades from persons in her constituency as she celebrated the 2nd anniversary of her election with a thanks giving service at the Bible Holiness Church Grand Bacolet St. Andrews, Sunday.

The service kicked off a week of activities featuring a women’s conference at Bains Hall on Tuesday at 10: 00 am, a business forum also at Bains Hall Wednesday at 4.30 pm and a Best Village competition Friday at Hope pasture from 6:00 pm.


“When I heard her outline all the things that she has done within two years. We cannot ask for more,” said Pastor Adrian Marrast, the assistant pastor at Grand Bacolet Baptiste church.


“She takes so much time in outlining the things she has done in two years, I cannot imagine what it would be in four years”.

The St.Andrew’s East MP has led several initiatives geared at assisting persons from the distribution of uniform and school supply vouchers to the food basket programme and help for special needs and medical assistance.


“We are all gathered here to say thanks because we the people of faith believe that God has given us a special gift in our sister and fellow MP Emmalin Pierre,” said Delma Thomas, the MP for St. Andrew’s North West constituency.


“It is significant that she has decided to mark the second anniversary of her election as St.Andrew’s South East MP with a thanksgiving service”.


An after-school programme to improve students ability in Mathematics and English is also underway.

And plans are in the works for new projects ranging from a community centre and basketball court to training and job creation projects.


“We are also hoping to launch this year an eastern food festival within the constituency . Also, a local shop initiative that would serve not just the constituency but the entire island,” said Mrs. Pierre as she announced more plans for the constituency.


“We are looking forward anxiously within a couple weeks to be opening up the Mama Cannes Community Centre, Cabier Beach development and a children’s playground within the constituency”.

Other events to highlight the week of activities in St.Andrew’s South East include a constituency walk-about by Minister Pierre on Saturday and Telescope Sports at SAASS playing field on Sunday.


“I find she has so much to do ,I wonder how she is making it because I only see her sometimes on special occasion,” said Marqui village elder Agnes Peters.

“I know she is a busy lady and I know she is doing a lot but I know she is not doing it for herself it’s all because of the grace of God. She is a special women”.
