National Summary Data for June 2015 CXC (CSEC) Examinations

A total of 2,702 candidates were registered to write CXC (CSEC) examinations in May/June 2015. 1,728 were students attending schools and 974 were private candidates. There were 12,470 subject entries.


Overall there were 1,433 Grade one, 3,109 Grade two, 3,878 Grade three, 2,444 Grade four, 978 Grade five, 46 Grade six and 582 ungraded or absent.


The pass rate in the examination is 70.8%. In 2014, the pass rate was 69.9%.

The largest entries were in English A (1,802), Mathematics (1,601), Social Studies (905), Principles of Business (692) and Information Technology (510).

The lowest entries were in Mechanical Engineering Technology (9), Theatre Arts (16), Additional Mathematics (21), Religious Education (88), and Electronic Document Preparation and Management (136).

The subjects with the highest percentage pass were Theatre Arts (100%), Physical Education and Sport (99.5%), Principles of Business (97.7%), Electronic Document Preparation and Management (96.9%), and Information Technology (91.1%).

The subjects with the lowest percentage pass were Mechanical Engineering Technology (37.5%), Visual Arts (44.4%), Human and Social Biology (45.6%), French (48%) and Geography (53%).


Performance in Mathematics improved from 51.48% pass in 2014 to 54.4% pass in 2015. Similarly, performance in English A moved from 54.99% pass in 2014 to 57.74% pass in 2015.


The top performances in the Examination are placed in descending order of
Grade 1.
