ST. GEORGE'S, GRENADA, FRIDAY, 10 OCTOBER, 2014 - (GIS): A number of Grenadian journalists, public relations and communications officers are participating in a half-day training seminar organized by the Ministry of Health. The seminar is taking place today at the National Stadium.

The objective is to sensitize local journalists and communications officers about the Ministry's ongoing public education and awareness efforts especially in relation to Mosquito control, Chikungunya and the Ebola Virus Disease (EVD).

During today's seminar, Senior Medical Officer and Director of Primary Health Care, Dr. Francis Martin, made a presentation on both viruses, and highlighted Government's ongoing preparedness and response strategy.

Earlier this week health officials met with Immigration, Tourism, Foreign Affairs and TAMCC personnel to update them on the Ministry’s latest efforts.

Meanwhile Health Minister, Dr. Clarice Modeste-Curwen is expected to chair another important meeting at the St. George's University (SGU) this afternoon as government continues to strengthen its national preparedness and response mechanisms.
