ST. GEORGE’S, GRENADA, May 16, 2014 – GIS: On behalf of the Government and People of Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique, Prime Minister Dr. The Right Honourable Keith Mitchell extends best wishes to Formula One Racing Car Driver, Mr. Lewis Hamilton, as he competes in Barbados on May 17-18th.

Hamilton will join a lineup of motorsports legends at the inaugural Top Gear Festival in Barbados, appearing behind the wheel of his Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula One Car. This is Hamilton’s second season with Mercedes, and so far he has attained great success with the Silver Arrows, which he joined in 2013.

The Top Gear Festival motor event this weekend at the Bushy Park Circuit, has been hailed as the newest event on the Barbados entertainment calendar, and is expected to attract a huge crowd.

From his Grenadian heritage to the world stage, Hamilton has been dubbed the first black driver in Formula One racing. His many accomplishments to date have been great sources of pride for the Grenadian community.

We continue to wish him every success in his pursuits.
