Grenada to host Regional Workshop on etablishing Multipurpose Indentification System (MPID)

St. George’s January 25, 2013: Over sixty regional delegates and stakeholders are expected in Grenada for the launch of the   Multipurpose Identification System (MPID).

The MPID is a subcomponent of the OECS Electronic Government for Regional Integration Project, (EGRIP).

The   Multipurpose Identification System (MPID) will be officially launched on Monday January 28th 2013, followed by a one week stakeholder  workshop at the Flamboyant Hotel.

The objective of this subcomponent is to review the current status of key Government registries and support the creation of a harmonized Multi-Purpose Identification System throughout all e-government platforms. It is also geared at integrating other key information systems at the national and regional levels. (Civil and Business Registries, Immigration Systems, and Election Systems.)

The Multipurpose Identification System is being financed by loans taken by the Governments of the Commonwealth of Dominica, Grenada, Saint Lucia and St. Vincent and Grenadines. Each country received soft loan financing in an amount equivalent to US$2.4m, from the World Bank, for implementation of the OECS Electronic Government for Regional Integration Project (EGRIP).

Prime Minister Tillman Thomas is expected to deliver the feature address at Monday's launch.
