St. George’s, February 3rd 2012: QUEEN of Grenada, and of Great Britain and Head of the Commonwealth, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, has designated members of the Royal Family to undertake official visits to all countries of the Realm, which includes Grenada.
The visits, which form part of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Celebrations, are aimed at raising awareness on the significance of her Majesty’s role as Head of the Commonwealth and Sovereign of sixteen nations. The visits are also intended to show appreciation of our Head of State and to connect the Royal family to nationals of the Commonwealth of nations.
Her Majesty has designated Their Royal Highnesses Prince and Princess Edward, Earl and Countess of Wessex to visit Grenada. Their visit is scheduled for February 27th.
Her Majesty's Representative in Grenada, Sir Carlyle Glean, GCMG chairs the Planning Committee for the Royal visit.
Activities planned for Their Royal Highnesses include a Guard of Honour and cultural parade at the Cruise ship terminal, a Youth Rally at the National Stadium the unveiling of a plaque at the botanical gardens and the planting of a spice tree at Laura herb and Spice gardens.
Other countries to be visited include Gibraltar, St Kitts and Nevis, Antigua and Barbuda, Montserrat, St Lucia, St Vincent and the Grenadines, Barbados and Trinidad and Tobago.
