St. George’s Grenada, Friday 17th August, 2012, MOEPRU – Education officials have expressed satisfaction with the level of progress being made at the JW Fletcher Catholic Secondary School, which is being refurbished to accommodate forms one and two students at the start of the new school year.
Officials from the Ministry of Education including Minister, Senator Franka Alexis- Bernadine and Permanent Secretary, Eunice Sandy-David, visited the school to ensure that things are in place for the new academic year.
Minister Bernadine said she is pleased with the progress of the building especially since the advent of the islands newest secondary school provides greater educational opportunities for Grenadian children.
“Perhaps what is most gratifying is the knowledge that every child will have a seat at the school…as a nation we must offer each child the proper environment and opportunity for secondary education,” the Minister said.
She noted that emphasis must be given to secondary education for all.
Principal of the School Elvis Morain expressed his delight with the level of parental concern saying, “Because you cannot exist without parental involvement…I am pleasantly pleased, because to me this is the greatest achievement so far and I am looking forward to working with the parents”.
He pointed out that constructive participation from parents will aid in the growth and development of the school.
The school’s curriculum will feature both academic and technical subject areas and Mr. Morain is content with the level of education that is assured.
Registration continues for parents who wish to enroll their children at the JW Fletcher Catholic Secondary School. Orientation will take place on Wednesday August 29th, 2012.
