Hillsborough, Carriacou, December 19th, 2011- Residents of Dover and surrounding areas have shown that strong community spirit still exists in the parish of Carriacou and Petite Martinique.
They came out on the weekend to assist with the completion of the Dover Hard Court project. One of several capital projects completed in 2011 by the Community Development Division within the Ministry of Carriacou and Petite Martinique Affairs.
The group of men expressed how elated they were to see the project finally come to fruition as it started over 10 years ago.
“We are happy to see the final batch of concrete poured on the project, our basketball players and children will soon have a safe environment to play”, was one of the sentiments expressed by the villagers.
Acting Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Carriacou and Petite Martinique Affairs Javan Williams, who was on site and assisted, noted that the Government of Grenada endorses the support of citizens in the development process.
Also giving their support to the project was the initiators Concerned Citizens of the Northern District through a contribution of $10,000.00.
In the coming year, Government hopes to fence the court and provide the amenities to ensure residents can make full use of it.
