ST. GEORGE’S, GRENADA, Thursday, January 21, 2010: Officers of the Central Statistical Office of the Ministry of Finance Grenada, along with their counterparts from St. Vincent, Dominica, and Antigua will participate in a regional workshop on Sample Design and Estimation at the Grenadian by Rex Resort Hotel from Monday 25th – Friday 29th January 2010.
The workshop will be facilitated by representatives from the International Labour Orgainsation (ILO) and the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) Secretariat.
This workshop forms part of a sub-project initiated by the ILO and the OECS entitled: “Enhancing the survey capability of the Central Statistical Office of Grenada and Designing and Piloting the Standardised OECS Labour Force Survey.” The workshop is an important one for Grenada and is very critical for the development of the survey unit of the statistical office as it will increase their ability to conduct surveys and produce results in a timely manner.
The sub-project is a component of a wider regional project geared towards developing a strong labour information system in each OECS member state of which Grenada is designated the pilot country for the labour force aspect of this OECS project.
The workshop commences with an opening ceremony at the St. George’s Suite of the Grenada by Rex Resorts Hotel on Monday 25th January, 2010 at 8:30am.
