Hillsborough, Carriacou, August 30th, 2010- After facing a long dry weather spell which resulted in the importation of water to Carriacou and Petite Martinique, government is now taking a proactive approach to prevent a reoccurrence of the situation.

The Tillman Thomas-led administration has secured a US$204,000 grant from the Caribbean Development Bank to develop a reliable quality water supply system for the islands.

The specific objectives are to improve the ability of the National Water and Sewerage Authority to provide water to Carriacou and Petite Martinique, and also to formulate a phased capital works’ investment programme for the islands.
Government will provide counterpart funding equivalent to US$37,750.00
